Ornamental Horticulture

The Ornamental Horticulture program provides technical assistance to commercial greenhouses, nurseries, and landscaping service providers. Services include assistance with water management issues, variety and media selection, and pest management. Questions related to Christmas trees and pond care are welcome, and we serve as a conduit to a variety of Cornell’s other resources. Site visits can be arranged in Schuyler, Chemung, Tompkins, Cortland, and Tioga counties as needed. Walk-in diagnostic and pest and disease ID services are available in the office.

Homeowners are also welcome to use our services. Each county in our group has a team of trained Master Gardeners can assist you in identifying and treating your insect and disease problems. Find your county’s contact information on our Staff page.

Annual Education Day: Each March, CCE assists the Southern Tier Nursery and Landscape Association with presenting their annual Education Day. This full day event, taught by Cornell staff and industry professionals, provides attendees with an opportunity for continuing education while obtaining necessary DEC credits. CNLP credits and ASLA credits are also available at the event. See nysnla.com for details.
