YB Forest Farm (Freeville, NY)
Off grid 33 acre forest farm adjacent to Yellow Barn State Forest. Our forest is “managed” for wildlife, water quality, edibles, medicinals and forest products including maple syrup, 340 inoculated shiitake logs, oyster mushroom totems, wine cap bed, oak stumps and girdled beech trees inoculated with Lion’s mane, hardwood and softwood lumber, and firewood, forest orchard, maple syrup, Hugelkultur, solar power.

A neighborhood shared green space along the Cascadilla Creek in Ithaca’s Northside community. The Park is a community effort which demonstrates ecologically sound landscaping practices in a public setting. Featuring a wide array of native and lesser known edible plants free for anyone to enjoy, the park is intended to be a model for other cities to create beautiful and sustainable park lands while also addressing hunger.

Named after the Iroquois word Otisco, or Us-te-ke, “bitter-nut-hickory”, a 100-year old renovated Victorian purchased in 2010 for $1 from Home Headquarters (HHQ), a local quasi-governmental/non-profit housing agency. The house had been vacant for 3-4 years at the time of purchase, and required new plumbing, electric, heating, hot water, structural repairs from water and animal damage, and major interior and exterior finish work.

The CCE Teaching Garden began with a grant designed to help fight community obesity, get people outside and promote healthier eating habits. The garden has grown to include over 60 varieties of fruiting plants. There are new trials added each year, including a Cranberry planting from Rutgers and many new Blueberries varieties. Come over and see our Hardy Kiwi, Honeyberry, Seaberry plants and our one-of-a-kind Grape arbor outdoor teaching pavilion.

The Good Life Farm is a diverse, ecological farm featuring perennial
alley cropping of apples, peaches, asparagus, vegetables, ginger,
turmeric in high tunnels. Animal powered with draft horses, turkeys,
geese, and beef cows. Finger Lakes Cider House is the hub of the hard
cider renaissance in New York apple country. In our tasting room, here
on Good Life Farm, you can savor the craft of five artisan cider makers and many inspired local food growers.
