SPEAKER: Jerry Lehman has devoted 25 years to the development of a persimmon tree that can be commercially produced in the United States. His 85 acre farm in Terre Haute specializes in growing this rare fruit and has nearly 1,000 trees, including American and Asian persimmons. He is carrying on the work of his late mentor, Jim Claypool who was said to be the most prolific persimmongrower in the world. Jerry is breeding pawpaws and has won both the Biggest Pawpaw and Best Pawpaw contests at the Ohio Pawpaw Festival with two of his breeding results.
