We welcome registrations for Hidden Valley 4-H Camp now; however, due to the coronavirus pandemic, plans for Summer 2020 are not yet finalized. If we are allowed to open, it is likely that there will need to be changes to the format of Camp to promote physical distancing and good health practices.
We have engaged a strong leadership team to advise on the standards we would need to meet in order to operate this summer. Our committee is receiving guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, leaders in the camping profession, the American Camping Association, and the NYS Department of Health. Our primary goal is to ensure the safety of our camp staff, campers, their families and their communities.
We expect to make a decision about Camp around mid-May – whether we will open, or if we will have an adjusted camping season built upon physical distancing. To make it easier for families, if you want to register now and reserve a space, we will refund your deposit 100% if Camp is unable to open.
We promise to keep communicating about our plans as they
develop, and to do our best to keep Camp traditions alive for this year.
Hidden Valley 4-H Camp Parents Health Paperwork Update: Please hold all Health Paperwork at this time.
We know the health paperwork is an important part of our entry point to camp and our forms are based off of what the Department of Health recommends that we need to include. Our current health form was updated and approved in February prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, and we are awaiting guidance from our oversight agency, the NYS Department of Health to see what adjustments may need to be included. We also have to include the guidelines recommended from the CDC and they are not complete at this time, although we do know that there will be a section in their plans to follow around Camper Health, Intake Screening and Assessment and Regular Screening and Assessment. We realize not knowing what is required along with the uncertainty of whether camp will operate this summer adds additional stress – we hope to have the answers that you need over the next two weeks. We are awaiting answers and guidance from the agencies that are on the front lines of the current health crisis.
Hidden Valley 4-H Camp uses Bunk1.com for our families to register for Camp. In Bunk1 you can select individual camp programs, access health forms, and receive registration updates. In order to register please follow the link https://www.bunk1.com/en/i/1118/login. As you sign up for an account make sure to use the code for Hidden Valley 4-H Camp HV4HC2019.
Bunk1 offers additional benefits for families. Bunk Notes allows parents to send messages to their camper during their stay at Camp. Camp Staff can use the weekly Newsletter to list special camp event highlights, and they can share special moments with parents through photographs of your camper as they take their journey through their Camp week. All three of these functions help parents have a secure feeling that their child is having a wonderful time at Camp.
Parents also have the option to purchase keepsakes within Bunk1’s store from photographs to keychains and other trinkets to help you and your camper remember their special week at camp.
Deposits and Refunds
Due to the increased uncertainty about plans due to
coronavirus, we have reduced the deposit amount in 2020 to $50. Also, if Camp
is unable to open this summer, your deposit will be refunded in full. Please
note that it may take several weeks to process the refund.
Health forms are required in order for your child to attend camp. These forms need to be turned in ten days prior to the start of your child’s week at Camp. The New York State Health Department will not allow any camper to participate without the Health form. The only acceptable form is the one provided by Hidden Valley; it must be completed and signed by your child’s doctor or nurse practitioner.
If you have any questions about the registration process or Camp requirements, please contact Camp Registrar Dayna Karius at email@example.com or 607-535-6812.
